How have I become me?

I was going to do some really deep trauma writing this month- but you know what? I figured since there’s a ton of new subscribers it might be better to do this little getting to know me activity that I posted on patreon a while back. Save the trauma and content warnings for next month :)

How have I become me?
All of the trauma and love I’ve been through. Trauma might not seem like a good opener for something like this, but it’s true. Having survived attempted murder and also losing my mom to murder at the same time have been the things that have profoundly impacted my adult life and shaped the way I interact in this world. I’ve talked about it a lot (blogs and podcasts) but I will say that there is something beautiful about knowing you can lose it all, even yourself, & then completely rebuild. I’ve done it a few times, so while I have really bad anxiety and other mental health stuff (even since before her murder, yay therapy!), I have a solid foundation of survival skills and know I can get through most things. Tenacity - the quality or fact of continuing to exist; persistence. Continuing to exist sums it up quite well as that has been a challenge on its own, so finding joy and happiness through it just makes life that much sweeter.

What am I like?
The sun . I’m a Leo (& astrology is very important obviously! Lol) so I’m ruled by the sun, and I joke that I’ve had a love affair with the sun since having extreme ptsd since the murder stuff. I used to be terrified of the night so I’d stay up all night waiting for the sun to come out so I could sleep. I frequently pull the sun tarot card so I started referring to it as “mine”.. “The Sun card presents a feeling of optimism and fulfillment. This card represents the dawn which follows the darkest of nights.”

What about you? I’d love if you replied with a few sentences about how you’ve became who you are, and what you’re like. I really enjoy the connections I’ve made through social media, this newsletter, and of course, my patreon where I blog most frequently.

What’s going on this month:

Podcasting again, yippee!!

Leigh and I have started recording season 4 of Queers Next Door! It’s looking like episode 1 will be released August 1, so make sure you’re subscribed wherever you get your podcasts! If you’d like some behind the scenes information on each episode for FREE, consider joining our facebook group. Or, you can always join our patreon for $1 a month to see our live recordings of Queer Cuts (our patreon exclusive mini podcast).

Writing and Productivity Sprints

If you’re a writer, blogger, or even just a work-from-homer like me, I do writing and productivity sprints 3 days a week on YouTube. Subscribe so you don’t miss out. It’s a fun way to work together and not feel so alone in whatever you’re doing. I’m on the screen, I turn on a timer for 20 minutes, we work, then check in and chat. I usually do about 4 20-minute sprints each live stream. Go check it out! You can see the replays to see what they’re all about, or even watch them as you work.

Patreon, my love

I spend at least one of the live sprints each time working on content for my Patreon blog. You can join for $1 a month, there are a few spots left before it goes to $5 a month. You will also get access to my private facebook group when you join, and I’ll send you something fun in the mail.

I updated my Website, so if you’d like, please go visit it MeganAshley.com

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY NEXT MONTH! AUGUST 15th! I will be 34 years old, and I am SO EXCITED. Maybe I’ll do a fun birthday celebration post instead of the trauma writing next month. We’ll see :) Thanks for your support with my newsletter and I hope to hear from you! See you next month.

XOXO, Megan
